In GOD'S HOME, author, columnist, and copywriter Steve Raap collects the best of his stories, observations, insights, and reflections on life in the sandy pines of Rome, Wisconsin--with his wife of 30 years, Linda Behling, and their cat of five years, Zoey.

Filled with profound humor, revelatory pathos, subtle ironies, fresh nostalgia, self-deprecating truths, and flights of fantasy, GOD'S HOME not only speaks to those who already know the joys of the wooded rural life--it calls out to those urban and suburban dwellers who believe that, given the right circumstances, they too would enjoy such a life.

Here, then, is their chance to find out.

AUTHOR'S NOTE

Old Guy and Still-Young Bride came to the town of Rome, Wisconsin, as newlyweds 30 years ago.

Trust me when I tell you--the honeymoon continues to this day.

Often in the early days of our marriage, but less and less as time moved forward, I'd heard a town motto for Rome: The Town of Rome is God's Home. Though unofficial in its usage--indeed, I may have seen it in print only once or twice--that motto struck me as being true enough.

It is in honor of that motto, and for all the people of our town who help to make and keep the motto true, that this book is named.

I hope to someday find out if this town lives up to its holy promise of divine residency. I just hope I don't find out anytime soon.
